Depending upon the desired qualifications of the successful candidate, the hiring manager may elect to fill this position at a higher level within the job hierarchy.
Under close supervision as a learner in training for advancement to the next higher grade in his/her promotional sequence, works with employees of higher classification in electrical and other work in and about substations and shops; performing such duties as:

Assisting employees of higher classification in their work, including supplying them with tools, instruments, materials and equipment.
*
Caring for tools, instruments, materials, and equipment used in the work.
*
Operating power driven hand tools, such as air hammers, electric drills; sharpening drills, using emery wheel and using taps.
*
Operating torches, handling solder, removing insulation from wires, etc.
*
Tinning and soldering joints and lugs.
*
Bending, cutting and threading conduit and pipe by hand.
*
Driving a truck or other Company vehicles on a limited basis, such as, to and from job site, when required; and other driving incidental with performance of duties.
*
Acquiring a working knowledge of safety rules, first-aid and safety and fire-fighting equipment used on the system.
*
Performing other similar or less-skilled work.

If you submit a request for your safety performance history but do not make arrangements to pick up or receive such requested records within thirty (30) days of Duke Energy making such information available to you, you waive your request.
Basic Qualifications

Must have acquired a knowledge of the use and care of the more common tools used in the work.
*
Must have a valid driver's license and have ability to obtain a commercial driver's license.
Specific Requirements
*
Due to Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) imposed regulations, the body weight limitation is 285 lbs. or less.
*
Must have the ability to climb and work at elevated levels or on uneven surfaces.
*
Candidate must qualify on Construction and Skilled Trades (CAST) test battery administered through Staffing Services.
